I am a mom who after seeking out Pre-K teaching resources, decided to instead make up my own stuff. Why? Because my 3 year old does not fit into a mold and I have come to see that only I know what will really keep her attention. So I have made this blog to keep a Journal of all the lessons, art pojects and resources I have created and used. And because writing them on scrap papers and kept loosely in a binder just did not work out so well....

My Students

Ella Reese
She turned 3 in August of 09'.
She LOVES when we do "school" and anything to do with learning.  She is adventurous, wild and incredibly creative.  I found early on that spreading out various craft things in front of her, or more recently challenging her with learning letters and reading is the only thing that will keep this child still for 30 minutes.  So "school" it is!  Because she does not fit into a mold of learning, I find myself adjusting lessons I see or follow, to adapt to her interests and attention.

Dean
This little monkey turned 2 this past February.
He joins in with us when we sit down for "school".  But most of the time he is peeling the paper off the crayons or drawing on my table.  But he loves to pretend he is reading.
He will sit at a book moving his finger across the page and says,  " tuh. tuh. tuh.  tuheee.  tuhhhe. tuhe. T. T. T!!!!".  He is obviously copying Ella Reese as she sounds out letters and words.  The first time he did this, Ella Reese exclaims with amazement, "DEAN!  You can READ!!!".
I am not sure what kind of learner he will be.  Right now he is just a copy cat.
So it will be fun to watch what things helps him learn.
