I am a mom who after seeking out Pre-K teaching resources, decided to instead make up my own stuff. Why? Because my 3 year old does not fit into a mold and I have come to see that only I know what will really keep her attention. So I have made this blog to keep a Journal of all the lessons, art pojects and resources I have created and used. And because writing them on scrap papers and kept loosely in a binder just did not work out so well....

Pizza Time!

I was about to toss out my frozen pizza box and stopped myself when I had the cardboard circle the pizza once sat on.  I could make a pretend pizza for the kids to play with!
I tore the pizza box open and traced the same size circle on the two sides of the box and on the circular carboard inside.

And what made it all really exciting is a perfect cardboard box I had that opens just like a delivery box!  So fun!  If you go to CCK it is the Mission Fund box you got.  Yes...I held onto it.  I hold onto all kinds of junk.

To make this more than a pretend art project, I made a chart of different shapes.  As we talked about what toppings we wanted on the pizza, I had them look at the chart to decide what shape that topping is.  We made pepperoni, olives, green peppers and cheese.

After coloring the circles red with pizza sauce, we sprinkled our toppings on top.
We even put it in an "oven", which was Dean;s old highchair.

Afterward we decided on a name for their pizza business and made a label.  I made the letters for her to trace.  We taped the label on, put the baked pizza inside, then delivered it to Ryan.

Ella Reese was so excited to deliver it!  They have played with it a few times since.  But I am starting to find toppings everywhere.
