I am a mom who after seeking out Pre-K teaching resources, decided to instead make up my own stuff. Why? Because my 3 year old does not fit into a mold and I have come to see that only I know what will really keep her attention. So I have made this blog to keep a Journal of all the lessons, art pojects and resources I have created and used. And because writing them on scrap papers and kept loosely in a binder just did not work out so well....

Word Play Flash Cards

Allyson Hughes commented on my "Word Play" post and gave me this idea for a lesson.
It was a great way to focus more on the phonics and letters.  And Ella Reese loved to flip through the words.

I cut out long strips of paper. One long one, and several half it's size.  I stapled the far edge to make a book.  Then I started to write my words. One book was for AT words, another for AR words and the last for UG words.  As you flip through the book, the first letter changes creating a new word.

I also made one for Dean.  It was to help him learn the color Blue.  We are starting to teach him colors.

After we made this Blue book and colored Blue cars, blue tools, blue blocks, even a blue Dean....
I pointed to the color and asked him what color it was.  " Green!", he says.
Whew...we got some work to do~

  2. Um.... can you home school my kids too? Seriously? I'm kind of sick to my stomach at how good at this you are. I am like 100% completely boring with the kids.... and have NO artistic ability apart from my camera or computer! You are doing an awesome job and I'm sure I'll blogstalk you and wish I could recreate some of your genius!
